Getting Started...
Each race gets started from our starting gate!
The Hus Racing League is held at the Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church at 2808 Schaeffer DR. SW in Cedar Rapids Iowa. Though races don't start until 10:00am on the second Saturday of each month from February to November, you will need to arrive early in order to choose a racing number, label your cars with that number and place your cars into their appropriate classes. This also gives you a chance to chat with some of your fellow racers and to see what the competition will be like that month. Usually we'll race 2 classes and break for lunch for about 30 minutes. Lunch consists of what you bring from home or get from a local establishment or sometimes the church kitchen is open to accomodate us with hamburgers and hotdogs. We then have the devotion and race the remaining classes. Prizes are awarded after each class is run. If you're in the top 4 of a class, then you win points and the chance to go to the back table to claim your prizes with the Hus credits you earn. Also remember that points are accumulated throughout the racing season and the top 4 at the end of the season in each class will win trophies at the awards dinner after the November races.
This is the most common track setup used by the league. As you can see in the foreground, we do have an electronic finish line! |
